TWMYC 2012 Year-End Party

E-mail Print

The Year End Party and meeting went very well with a total of 44 sailors and spouses attending.  A special thanks to Larry & Betty Schleis, Bill & Sue Henry, and Bonnie & Doug Gould for their work in putting together the wonderful meal and also to those who brought all the desserts etc.  It’s always nice for everyone to get together and reminisce about the fun we had over the winter.  Bonnie and Doug also reminded everyone to remember that there will be another annual wine and cheese party next winter on Dec. 8th from 2-5pm in the screen room.

E-mail Print

The Tanglewood Model Yacht Club hosted the US12 Regional 3 Regatta on November 19, 2011 in Sebring Florida. There were eleven boats representing five clubs for a good showing for Region 3. The sailing was very competitive with past or present US National Champions and the Canadian National Champion in attendance. It was a beautiful Florida day for sailing with steady but stiff winds throughout the day. A total of 14 races were sailed with 2 throw outs for the day and trophies were presented to the top five finishers.

The winning skipper of the day was Art Hawes with 26 pts for the first place trophy and chevrons. Second place chevrons and trophy went to Al Dion with 31 pts. Class Secretary Jack Ward took home the third place trophy and chevrons. In fourth place was Bill Croft with 36 pts and the fifth place trophy went to Dean Lardie with 61 pts. All five of the trophy winners are members of the Sun Coast sailing club. It was a very competitive regatta with skilled skippers. Congratulations to all the sailors who competed and contributed to a successful regatta.
